Who We Are Mrs. Lyniece L. Fenner Lyniece Fenner is currently in her fourteenth year of teaching. In Lapeer, Mrs. Fenner teaches fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade and team teaches the marching band. Mrs. Fenner is a former Lapeer East and Lapeer High School band director. Under her direction the Lapeer East bands and the Lapeer High School bands consistently receive superior ratings at both district and state MSBOA festivals. In 2016, the Lapeer High School Wind Ensemble was a featured ensemble at a music conference called Director Development Days. The wind ensemble was the only high school band in the state of Michigan to be selected to perform. Also in 2016, the Lightning marching band brought home 1st Place at the Ortonville/Brandon competition and Grand Champion from the DeWitt competition. Originally from Lapeer, she began her study of the clarinet with teachers Ray Sturm, JoAnn Royce and Steve Burns. Mrs. Fenner received her Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University in 2005 where she studied clarinet with Mr. Kennen White. She was a member of the Marching Chips and performed in the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony under the direction of Mr. John Williamson. While at CMU she was also a member of Delta Omicron, a professional music fraternity. In 2008, Mrs. Fenner received her Masters Degree from Southern Oregon University through a program called The American Band College. Mrs. Fenner did her student teaching at Mt. Morris high school with the late Dennis Anderson. Mrs. Fenner is a member of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and recently was selected to become a member of the American School Band Directors Association. Before coming to Lapeer Community Schools, Mrs. Fenner was the director of bands at Mt. Morris high school for one year. Mrs. Fenner resides in Lapeer with her husband Grant and their two children Lydia (11) and Griffyn (8).
Mr. Daniel R. Hundt Daniel Hundt received his Bachelor and Masters of Music Education from Central Michigan University with a minor in trumpet performance. He studied trumpet with Dr. Dennis Horton and Dr. Paul Willwerth and performed as principal trumpet in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the Central Air Jazz Band under the direction of John Nichol and a member of the Chippewa Marching band under the direction of Jack Saunders and John E. Williamson. He has studied conducting with John E. Williamson and analysis with Dr. David Gillingham. While at CMU, Mr. Hundt was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia professional music fraternity. Mr. Hundt is in his twentieth year of teaching, formerly serving as Director of Bands for Mayville Schools and Lapeer West High School. His bands have received superior ratings at both District and State MSBOA Festivals. Under his direction, two bands have been featured at the prestigious Michigan Music Conference, an in-service for Music Educators. The Lapeer West Symphony Band was featured in January of 2010, and most recently the Lapeer High School Jazz Band was featured in January of 2017. Mr. Hundt served as guest conductor of the 2013 Sanilac County Honors Band, and was honored by Lapeer Community Schools in 2017 as a recipient of the Distinguished Educator Award. Mr. Hundt is currently Director of Bands at Lapeer High School and teaches Jazz Band, Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, two Beginning Bands, and co-directs the award winning Lapeer High School Marching Band. Mr. Hundt resides in North Branch with his wife Heather. Together they have four children; Joshua (18), Hannah (16), Jonathon (14), and Brayden (12).
Mrs. Lori L. Liley Lori Liley is in her 21st year of teaching music. Mrs. Liley is originally from Nebraska and earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mount Marty College in Yankton South Dakota. During her undergraduate years, she performed in various ensembles including, collegiate marching band, wind ensemble, choir, and various woodwind ensembles. She completed her Masters Degree of Education from Walden University. Mrs. Liley is a member of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and currently serves as the District Vice President of Jr. High Solo & Ensemble. She has performed with various community bands, including the Flint Concert Band, Genesee Wind Ensemble, Belle Valley Community Band, and is a former conductor of the Flint Symphonic Wind Ensemble. She has directed middle and high school bands in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Grand Blanc before coming to the Lapeer district. Mrs. Liley resides in Grand Blanc with her dog Susie and new kitten Sadie.
